Gagnef, the natural meeting place.

The municipality of Gagnef is a natural meeting place.
It´s where the rushing Västerdalälven river meets its calmer cousin, the Österdalälven, to unite in the mighty Dalälven. The landscape includes everything from pure wilderness to peaceful farmland.
It´s where people meet — those who have lived and worked here for generations, those who have moved here, and all the guests who visit the community each year.
In fact, the municipality consists of several small villages and towns, each with its own identity and special charm. The largest are Djurås; Dala-Floda, sometimes called “Dalarna´s Eden"; Gagnefs Kyrkby; Björbo; Mockfjärd; Djurmo; Bäsna and Sifferbo.
A new world
This is also the meeting point between the Siljan region in the north and Borlänge in the south, which continues to shape our culture. Gagnef is a place of song and music, arts and crafts, traditional wood industries and successful international high-tech companies.
It´s no coincidence that famous film directors have chosen Gagnef as the scenic backdrop to their films. The area is a true idyll with that perfect summer feeling. Come see how summer was meant to be! The Midsummer scenes in Gunnar Hellström´s “Zorn" were filmed at Mockfjärds gammelgård, and Bille August used Fänforsen as the backdrop for “Jerusalem".
