The municipality of Gagnef is a natural meeting place.
It´s where the rushing Västerdalälven river meets its calmer cousin, the Österdalälven, to unite in the mighty Dalälven. The landscape includes everything from pure wilderness to peaceful farmland.
It´s where people meet — those who have lived and worked here for generations, those who have moved here, and all the guests who visit the community each year.
In fact, the municipality consists of several small villages and towns, each with its own identity and special charm. The largest are Djurås; Dala-Floda, sometimes called “Dalarna´s Eden"; Gagnefs Kyrkby; Björbo; Mockfjärd; Djurmo; Bäsna and Sifferbo.

Come see how summer was meant to be! The Midsummer scenes in Gunnar Hellström´s “Zorn" were filmed at Mockfjärds gammelgård, and Bille August used Fänforsen as the backdrop for “Jerusalem".
